Team behind Save Saab Museum page

Today Ingrid has joined the team of our Save Saab Museum page. There are three Saabists now posting on the Save Saab Museum page on Facebook (and we have more than 1600 likes now). Ingrid is a Saabista driving in a 9-5NG sedan and living in Holland.
Simik is living in Los Angeles and drives a 9-5 too, he is very active in the Saab community of Los Angeles.
Rudy is living in Holland like Ingrid and has a 9-3 Convertible (besides that also a 9-3 sedan and a Saab 95V4). Together we want to enjoy you all with info about Saab and nice Saab pictures. Feel free to share your pictures and/or stories on our Facebook page!

Save Saab Museum page on Facebook

Our Facebook page has more than 800 followers, (THANK YOU ALL) but still has the name "Save Saab Museum". As the Museum is saved, the name should be changed. Unfortunately this is not allowed by Facebook because the page has too many likes. I hope to write a letter or e-mail to Facebook somehow soon to ask them to make an exception. Unfortunately I did not find a way to contact Facebook. Does anyone know how to? In the mean time, please do not stop sending in pictures of Saabs.
And in case you want to Save your own Saab, above Saab (with Saab roofbox included) is for sale in the Netherlands for less than € 4000. Below a picture I`ve found on the web of an other Saab (not for sale as far as I know). I like the picture and wanted to share with the other Saabists.

Save your own Saab!

Yesterday evening I had a conversation with an other Saabist here in Holland. We both see that prices of certain types of Saabs are dropping very fast. For the 900NG and the early 9-5`s this is really extreme. Here in Holland they are available from about 450 Euro (incl. VAT and MOT). And the strange thing is, that they are still not selling well. Good Saabs end their life at the scrapheap now. Very early or special Saabs (e.g. the 92, 93 and sonnett`s) still are rather expensive, and also the 9-3 Convertible holds its value well. But look at this 9-5 Aero estate from June 2002 with 250 hp. The asking price is just € 3.950.
Do you think this is the bottom? For just 450 (asking price!) you`re the proud owner of the 900NG on the picture below. Here the link of the seller.
What am I trying to say? Save a Saab for yourself, at least one. It can happen you regret it in the near future when a good 9-5 is very hard to find (and not cheap to obtain). The Saab friend I spoke yesterday evening understands this very well, he now owns 10 Saabs and is looking for more!

Pictures of Saab

Nearly on daily basis I post a picture regarding Saab on the Facebook page of Save Saab. Last week I`ve posted the picture below I`ve found somewhere on the web.
As I did not make the picture myself, the nice thing is, that its author found it and responded : "I took that picture at the Gistad Saab Swap meet in the early 90´s. Had one of those pedal cars when I was a kid :-)" So Martin B: thank you for scanning your analogue photo to make it digital. Because Martin B. did I`ve scanned in a picture too :).
It`s a postcard I`ve got from Saab in the Netherlands. Below the text which was written on the back.
Do you have a nice Saab related picture too? Feel free to send it to me: info(@)jouwkeuken.nl

Nice Saab pictures

On the web I`ve found some nice Saab pictures so I`ve posted them on our Facebook page last week. I could not resist to post the "Winter Wonderland" Saab on this blog for the non-facebook Saabists.
Last week I`ve fitted a spoiler on my Saab 9-5, so I`ve made a picture myself too :). I`ve traded in my ugly black rims for aluminium ones, in my opinion my 9-5 is looking much better now.
The picture below is from a 96 I found somewhere for sale. I think these cars are underestimated classics. They are cheap to buy and to maintain. Maintanance is easy too. The only thing is that these cars need to sleep in a garage because the rustdevil likes these kind of Saabs very much.

Saab is sold!

Today we have really good news! Saab is sold to a new owner, the company NEVS. NEVS wants to make both electrical and hybrid Saabs as we understood. China is the country that the New Saab is focussing to in the first place. NEVS want to produce the current 9-3 as an electric car. Saab `ll start now with recruiting, the plan is that the first new Saabs `ll leave the factory in 2013 of 2014.
